The Town House » Learning
The Roman Town House is an ideal site for an educational visit. A guided tour and associated activities can be booked through the Dorset County Museum.
We provide educational resources for use in the classroom through the Dorset County Schools Library Service. An artefact loan box is available.
The Romans Artefact Box
The box contains a range of small items reflecting life in a Roman Town House over the period that the Dorchester house was occupied. Some of the items are very similar to artefacts found at the site while others are of a more general nature. As well as the artefacts the box contains two "try on" costumes one male and one female and there is also a resource for creating a small mosaic.
The box can be borrowed for two weeks at the cost of £30.
Families and children can have fun at the Town House too. A Children’s Guide is available, as a free insert with the official guidebook, and look out for our special events. Link to GAMES
