A day for schools at Dorchester's Roman Town House
Following last years Mai Dun Marvels, a successful Iron Age event for schools at Maiden Castle the South Dorset Ridgeway Heritage Project is providing a similar experience for Key Stage 2 pupils in 2010, this time with a Roman theme. The South Dorset Ridgeway Heritage Project is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund to raise awareness and improve access to this unique and historic landscape.
This year's event will be at the Roman Town House. There will be a choice of two days of activities on 20th & 21st May 2010, free to schools who book in advance. Please note that the Town House will not be available for other school groups on either of those two days.
The event will be connected to the Dorchester Roman Festival which will take place over the weekend of 22nd and 23rd May, with Roman re-enactors Legio II Augusta setting up camp at Maumbury Rings.
Each day will be open to several classes with a range of workshops and activities provided on site. A wet weather venue will be available. We may be able to offer some help for transport if required, please email or call 01305 228241 for more information.
